Carapace and seaweed combine in an mimicry of a land scene just beyond the dunes.
St. Louis Visits South Carolina
The shadowing in this still life is strongly evocative of St. Louis, Missouri’s Gateway Arch, the largest man-made arch in the United States.
I am finding myself increasingly more delighted when I find fun shadows in still lifes.

This wee mussel stood his ground against the very edge of the tide, creating a lovely still life.

Tossed and tumbled, yet still delicate and beautiful in form.
Dune Patterns
Have you ever seen an aerial photograph of dunes?
In wind, sand forms dunes of many sizes.
Halted
No place to go, so they might as well pose for my camera.
Conglomerate
There are all kinds of things going on here . . . Bits of shells, pebble, evidence of ocean parasite activity, and an item that I could not identify.
It is a fitting photo to start my Saturday morning because there are all kinds of things going on at home this weekend. I hope they all come together as well as this still life.
