Almost a rainbow-full of color, but not quite.
These pebbles were not moved from how I found them on the beach, and the colors were not enhanced in any way. This is how the tide clustered them on the beach at Spittal, and the colors are true. Absolutely magical!
The ‘S’ shadow right exactly along the upper edge of the tide line seemed somewhat auspicious.
I think I shall keep looking for remarkable still lifes. How can I not?
That this oh, so fragile jingle shell survived the tumult of last night’s storm is remarkable. That it landed here like a jewel among the mussels is beautiful.
The sun, new in the east, and the strong wind from the west created this still life. The carapace must have been wind-lifted just minutes before, because this arrangement was within the reach of the tide. I was captivated by the glowing light, as well as by the “strings” of sand that are remnants of the creature that once lived within this translucent shell.
This still life in particular was a vivid reminder for me to look carefully at the world around me. Small beauties and surprises are everywhere!
Look at the transparency of the bottom, right leg. Amazing!
A beach, a sunrise, and the surprise of sea glass.
The sun shining through a bit of sea glass first caught my eye very early in the morning. Then I noticed that the interior of the mussel was still holding the image of the sunrise that had just taken place.
The colors on Spittal’s beach are plenty, but soft and gentle like a tweed fabric. When one looks carefully all the colors of the rainbow are able to be found. Here, the sea’s shell and a well-worn pebble are each quite blue. It almost seems as if they have sought one another out in the sand.
