Not a natural find, but this was irresistible. There is so much of childhood in this simple lost plastic ring. Children carry their dreams with them everywhere they go, and I think this is especially true of play on the beach. Memories of my own daughters make me think that this ring is a bit of lost dream, perhaps a fissure in imagination.
Perhaps in this photo I can recapture a bit of what was lost for that child, and maybe conjure a small memory of our own.
Again, not a still life, but my husband spotted this as we walked the tide line. May we never grow too old to imagine!

My posts have been scant lately. Ios 9 update (and bug!) on my iPad has made the Apple lightning camera card reader not work, and most of my work is done on the iPad. Sure do hope Apple figures this out soon!
As is always the case with my photos, this was not arranged. This ocean/tide line awareness “ribbon” was created by the wave action on the tide line. Pretty neat!
“Sea Coal” is sometimes found along the tide line in New Jersey. These wave-tumbled bits of coal are likely from sunken ships from long ago. There are many along our coast! I like to think that each piece holds a bit of history.
