Clam, Skate Egg Case, Coquina
It should be a good summer for skates. The beach has been peppered with their empty egg cases. The center of each case maintains a deceptively gravid shape even when empty, as is the case when they reach shore. The tentacles on each corner twist and curl into mimics of art nouveau geometry.
I loved the positioning of this recently hatched egg case between two broken, empty shells – their owners long deceased.
