Vertebrae

It is impossible for me to capture the gentle run of the tide from flats back into the ocean. This photo, though, captured just that in the form of a backbone. The ripples of water over sand immediately reminded me of a lizard spine, or of a fossil of some sort. Ironically, most vertebrates have 22-27 vertebrae. There are 27 “vertebrae” in this small section of receding tide.
