Pebbles have a simple beauty that belies what a photograph can truly capture. Form is very much a result of their environment; and when they sit isolated on the tide line, as these did, I appreciate their clean, uncomplicated beauty. Every smooth surface and each rough-hewn crack is a direct result of their environment over eons. Looking at a smooth pebble, or even one on its way to gentle surfaces like this white one, is a peek back through time.
