Red and white carnations, some still tied with ribbons, were scattered along about a mile of beach. There were flowers still washing up with the waves as we walked. The logical explanation is a scattering of ashes or a memorial at sea, not far off the beach. It must have just taken place, because the flowers were hardly beaten up at all.
Any of us who celebrated this Thanksgiving with family was aware of those who were missing from our table. I post this photo for them, and for all of us who felt our hearts tug during this holiday weekend.
Beautiful thoughts, lovely photo!
