Let’s Talk About Salp, Shall We?

A lovely still life, but this is not a jellyfish. Salp are more closely related to us than they are jellyfish. They are the most primitive of the Chordata, which is the same phylum as homosapiens – humans. They are pelagic tunicates and often come ashore in uncountable numbers. Below is a close up of the primitive notochord.
