Monochromatic. Textured. Simplistic. This buried feather offers a delicate foil to the surrounding, blowing sand. Once airborne, now earth-bound, it remains graceful.

It is astonishing how often forms in nature are evocative of parts of human anatomy. If you blink, you may miss them.

A beach full of sea lettuce. Brilliant green against the generally monochrome tide line. The simplicity of this arrangement with the lost gull feathers and crab carapace is gentle, yet strikingly strong.
Remnants of a sand crab. A feather dropped from one of the beach-feasters. The reality? Both beauties.
Finally autumn? One never knows, but this maple leaf is sure of it.

Feathers and footprints were in abundance on this beach. There must have been a wild gull party!
These feathers settled together beautifully. I love the blue on the inside of the sand crab carapace… it seems to hold a gentle bit of the sky within!
