When it is windy, the lighter sand gathers around beach objects that are left on the upper tide lines. These skate egg cases seemed to be slogging through, back to the sea.
Gentle breeze. Gentle feathers. Subtle colors. Gentle form.
Simplicity at its finest.
The ocean ‘paints’ with pebbles and bits of shells. This sandscape was created by the outer reaches of the tideline as it slowly shifted from low to high.
Poised to tumble onto the minuscule grey pebble, this shell is posed at its tipping point.
One of my favorite still lifes ever. The colors, the mini-tide pools within each, and the positioning of the shells make it just perfect.
The interior of this mussel simply shouted, “Look at me”, as I walked the beach. All of about an inch in length, the many colors inside were bottomless.
