Small rounded granite stones that must predate the fossil, based on the amount of erosion.
A still life window into eons past, taken in the very present, and published on the internet, where it should last for quite some time in the future. Isn’t time amazing?
I have never seen this species of sea plant on our beach. Gorgeous! Together with the shells and stones it shouted for attention on the tide line.

This photo was taken just as the tide line retreated, capturing the bubbles in the shell’s spiral. It was a lucky shot, as the tide then came right back, reclaimed the shell, and reminded me of who owns the beach!
How often have I stood by water’s edge at night, looking high into the dark for falling stars, when they have been at my feet all along?
