The ‘S’ shadow right exactly along the upper edge of the tide line seemed somewhat auspicious.
I think I shall keep looking for remarkable still lifes. How can I not?

The Surprise of Gold
Translucency
The sun, new in the east, and the strong wind from the west created this still life. The carapace must have been wind-lifted just minutes before, because this arrangement was within the reach of the tide. I was captivated by the glowing light, as well as by the “strings” of sand that are remnants of the creature that once lived within this translucent shell.
This still life in particular was a vivid reminder for me to look carefully at the world around me. Small beauties and surprises are everywhere!

The pebbles on this area of the Northumberland coast are all beautifully multi-colored, like the shades in a lovely, soft tweed. Every color in the rainbow is present, delicate and muted. This one pebble, though, stood apart as a more vivid blue. Perhaps it is the seaweed beside it in this still life that brings out the blue.
